1. About Marr Rugby

Marr Rugby is a community club providing access to high quality and high performance or social rugby opportunities for players, coaches and spectators from Troon and its surrounding area.

We have three senior teams and a youth section covering Minis Rugby from P1 to P7 (age 5 - 11 years) and Youth Rugby covering all secondary school ages and stages. We have over 600 people involved in sport. In Season 2019/20 younger pre-school aged children (age 3 - 4 years) will be able to join Marr Mites, our new Micro Rugby addition.

In partnership with Scottish Rugby and South Ayrshire Council we run Marr College’s School of Rugby initiative and provide inputs on rugby to every local primary school. This is led by one of our development officers, supported by our second development officer and our team of volunteer coaches.

Marr Rugby's youth rugby pathway for Midis Rugby is delivered through the teams it fields as Marr College.

Our youth rugby focus has twin aims:
1) Support and improve the wellbeing and development our young people, and
2) provide a pathway into adult rugby and opportunity to enjoy, play and experience rugby at the highest possible levels.

As well as fielding boys teams from S1 to S6 stages we have now introduced girls rugby covering S1 to S3 stages and this coming year will expand this.

In Season 2018/19 Marr College won the Mitsubishi Motors Barbarian Schools and Youth Conference for the second year in a row. This success has been recognised and rewarded with Marr College securing a place in the next tier up of the Schools and Youth Conferences and in 2019/20 they will play in the L200 Conference.

Our senior 1st XV were BT National League 1 Champions for the season 2018/19.

During 2019/20 season our three senior teams will play in the following leagues:

  • 1st XV: Tennent's Premiership (the top 10 club sides in Scotland)
  • 2nd XV Tennent's West Reserve League 1 (the top 18 club sides in Scotland)
  • 3rd XV: Tennent's West Reserve League 3 (South)
