Marr College Vs Lomond

Marr welcomed Lomond to the playing fields for the penultimate league fixture of the season. Lomond were short of two players, which Marr players kindly agreed to play for the opposition.

Marr coaches and players have been working hard in the paddock to create a sense of urgency at the beginning of matches. This approach was accepted and deployed at the beginning of the match. The purple patch of last weeks performance was to continue with (AK) scoring in the first four minutes with a trademark finish. This was quickly followed by some clever play between the Marr backline to set (FD) free to finish a paddock move in the corner. Lomond were not fully in agreement with the style of play and scored a well worked try just under the posts, the wheels on the Marr wagon wobbling they regathered themselves and again from the paddock (LSA) cut through the Lomond defence to score under the posts. The remainder of the first half highlighted complexity and execution of the forwards and backs style of play to score three positive and pleasing team trys by (AK), (LSA) & (AR).

The start of the second half, Marr's dedication to impose a brand of rugby that was pleasing to the rugby purist was in full flow. Following on from last week keeping possession of the ball was key and allowed Marr to score second half trys by (LSA), (DL), (AY) & (FDx2). Marr's performances over the past two matches have been pleasing but in the context of honouring the game and being respectful to opponents, this has perhaps overshadowed the performance of Lomond.

Lomond played some fantastic, high tempo rugby with their offloading game and were belligerent in defence, and will no doubt be a force as the season progresses. Marr College wish Lomond coaches and players every success for the remainder of the season.
