Marr College welcomed Glasgow Academy to Marr playing fields on a bright and breezy Saturday morning for a friendly fixture. Marr were missing 5 players participating in Scouting activities. The match began with some focused aggression by Glasgow Academy playing hard and fast seeking gaps at the breakdown, this has been the achilles heel of the Marr team this season. Glasgow Academy took full advantage and scored a well worked try. This gave immediate urgency to several attacks leading to two additional trys by Glasgow Academy.
Marr struggled to get a foothold in the game and became suffocated by a well drilled defensive performance by Glasgow Academy. Marr's HB lead the midfield well to expose a chink in the Glasgow Academy defence to set (FD) free to score under the posts.
Marr welcomed the second half and accepted the challenge of Glasgow Academy's brand of abrasive rugby, however were undone again by missing several tackles. Marr responded quickly through a fine team try finished well by (FD). The remainder of the game huffed and puffed with Marr unable to break down a stubborn and resilient Glasgow Academy defence. Marr coaches and players were grateful to Glasgow academy for highlighting areas of improvement.
