Carrick Academy vs Marr College

Marr College travelled to Carrick for the second away fixture of the season. The game began with real tempo and was driven by LS at scrum half exposing several weaknesses in the Carrick defensive line. This lead to a fine flowing move from LS through the backline for LSA to score on four minutes. This was quickly followed by LSA providing his centre partner FD with the opportunity to score the second try of the match. The influence of LS at scrum half was becoming a real thorn in the Carrick defensive line and flummoxed his opposing number to crash over the line for a fine individual try. The remainder of the first half was played in the middle of the pitch with Carrick committing to tackles and seeking to score.

The second half was underway and Marr sought to extend their lead with urgency and the centre partnership of LSA and FD both scored trys. This was down to the hard work of the Marr forwards to retain the ball and the positive decision making of LS and HB to capitalise on the space presented when Carrick over committed at breakdowns. Marr then a adopted a cavalier approach to play by avoiding tackling the opposition Carrick took full advantage, and scored a fine team try in the corner.

Marr captain lead from the front and encouraged his fellow players to retain the ball and return to the style of play that had been successful earlier in the game. The players responded with another try from FD and a fantastic try and his first of the season SN. The game finished and both sets of coaches appreciated the effort and ambition of the players given this was early in the season.

Marr College wish Carrick's coaching team and players every success for the remainder of season and look forward to visiting or welcoming our neighbours for a return fixture.
