Marr Rugby S2 Vs Hamilton Bulls S2

Marr Rugby S2 welcomed Hamilton Bulls S2 to Fullarton for the first friendly fixture of the new season. The conditions were excellent and both teams were supported by a healthy crowd of parents, anticipating a competitive game. This was following an excellent game between Marr and Hamilton late in the 2016/17 season.

Marr started the game with a kick to the Hamilton forwards, both teams took turns of handling errors and knock ons, which did not help the continuity of attacking rugby. However, under the leadership of the new Marr Captain (AR) Marr were quick to impress their efforts of pre-season training and score a fine try in the corner by (FD). This was quickly followed by another try from (FD). Marr were imposing their style of play on Hamilton with real dedication and commitment, this was short lived initially with two fine scores by Hamilton.

Marr then raised their game and scored 6 try's before the final 15 minute period of play. The continuity of the Marr play and dedication to defence, turnover and swift attack lead to excellent team try's and moments of individual recognition scored by (SM), (BP), (RC), (AK) & (FN X2).

The final 15 minutes was determined by Hamilton scoring 4 well worked trys and ambition to reduce the deficit and again show a fantastic attitude to playing rugby to the final whistle. The coaches of both teams recognise this is the first game of the season and will take away a few works ons in preparation for the next game.

Marr Rugby S2 wish Hamilton Bulls S2 the best of luck in the Scottish Rugby Youth Shogun League over the coming months and look forward to a return fixture in 2018.
