On a sunny Sunday, Marr headed up the road to Paisley for the next match in the West Region T4 Conference. Paisley have been rebuilding their team and many of the boys were relatively inexperienced. This gave Marr a great opportunity to allow some their newer and less frequent players to have a decent run out and develop their skills. The captain, Cameron Paterson scored the first try with Scott Stirton duly converting. That score was quickly tied when one of Paisley’s forwards powered his way through a weak Marr defence straight from the re-start for an easy try and conversion. Marr regained their composure and began passing the ball through the hands out to the wings where experience and speed allowed scores. For the remainder of the game, Marr worked hard keeping their composure and sharpness allowing tries to be scored while working in twos where necessary to stop the bigger Paisley players.
Notable points were Kieran Fisher continuing his scoring run with two more tries and Andrew Rowan showing his abilities in not only scoring a try but also having a 100% conversion rate. Calum Inglis, Scott Grassom and Scott Stirton also scored over the line and through the posts. A brace of tries marked the comeback of a former Marr Minis player, Euan McLuckie, who has recently returned to the team.
Whilst the inexperience of Paisley showed, they held their heads high and stuck in from start to finish. After the match all enjoyed a fantastic spread courtesy of the Paisley players’ families. We wish Paisley's coaches and players every success for the rest of the season.
