S2 v West

Today was always going to be a good test of how we are progressing as a team. This time last season we were well beaten with West scoring at will.
For the first time in a while we started slowly with poor line speed and gave their backs too much time and space. We leaked 2 early scores before we started to settle and only some excellent defensive work from West stopped us getting on the score sheet. By the end of the first session we were down 12-0. In the second session we played with more purpose harrasing them in defence and causing them problems in attack with 1 score each 15-3. In the last session we took control of the match with the lions share of possession and scoring an excellently worked try in the corner. We then switched off at a west penalty and gifted them another try before coming back with another well worked tryin the corner.
West today played an expansive game with some of their support play a joy to watch but we showed in the second and third sessions that when we defend the way we know we can and spread the ball about we can play every bit as good.
