Changes to School format as Marr College enter competitive league

The SRU have implemented a conference structure in school rugby across the country which sees competitive leagues introduced for the first time.

"Scottish Rugby's School and Youth Competitions strive to continually improve the playing environment provided to S1 (U13) - S6 (U18) players throughout Scotland.

The conference structures established for the 2015-16 season group schools and clubs based on the development structures they have in place, the volume of teams they operate and results over recent seasons. The fixture programmes arranged by Scottish Rugby will guarantee blocks of 'school v school' or 'club v club' fixtures in the autumn phase of the season."

Marr join Carrick Academy, Jordanhill, Lenzie, Lomond, Morrison's, QVS, St Columbas & Wellington in the new black conference which will provide competitive games from September until the end of November. Each fixture is played only once.

On top of the 8 conference fixtures, Marr will continue to play in their traditional friendly games against Hutchesons, Glasgow High, Kelvinside, St Aloysius, Glasgow Academy etc once the conference fixtures have been fulfilled.

This means the traditional Hutchie season opener is no more! This Saturday the school play in their first conference fixture against Jordanhill. All 10am KO.
