Craig Redpath has had to ponder over his selection this week as Marr’s injury list has grown significantly. His squad strength this week will be tested to the fullest.
Still out is talisman Mackenzie Pearce with angle injury, Scrum half Sinjin Broad out with shoulder injury, Fraser Grant out with illness. Standoff Colin Sturgeon still out with ham string niggle and Ben Johnston is away on holiday. Blair Jardine out with knee and long term injury Gregor Paxton has now successfully gone through his operation and should make his return New Year.
This has caused the coaching staff a major reshuffle of the team, that currently sits top of the Tennent’s Premier Division.
Big Gordie Reid will start at second row and Harry Murray will move to his natural position at number 8. Callum Steele comes into the back row after his very impressive performances in the 2nd XV.
In the backs, Jack Scott will play scrum half [a position he has played many times before] with Callum Inglis remaining at stand-off. Scott Bickerstaff will join his brother in the centre, allowing Jamie Shedden to move to the wing. Iosefo Turaga will start on the other wing.
Kyle McCulloch and Gregor Beckwith move up from the 2nd XV and will take their places on the bench.
Musselburgh will provide a stern test and although there is still much experience in our starting XV, they will still have to be at their best to overcome the challenge.
The 2nd XV has also been hit with a few injuries and a few players unavailable due to a wedding. They will look to take their good recent form with them when they take on Hamilton Bulls away from home.
Marr 3rd XV have still got a strong squad to choose from and will still start as favourites against Ardrossan 2nd XV when they travel a few miles up the coast to Ardrossan.
Please give a big cheer to our match mascot Lachlan Anderson and his P4 teammates as they perform our guard of honour.
Special thank you goes out to AG PETERS [GARAGE SERVICES] Thanks Tony!
