Meanwhile - the three fixtures being played on Saturday are important tests for the club’s intent to have another successful season.

Marr Rugby 1st XV preview: Marr Rugby travel to play at Goldenacre for the first time. After a good win against Glasgow Hawks in the last league game the 1st XV face an extremely difficult game against Heriots. The home side will be determined to improve after their unexpected cup defeat against Edinburgh Accies. Heriots are intent on achieving a top four finish in the league and may already see five points safely in the bag.

After a four week break of rest, recovery and training Marr is almost at full strength as players return from injury and other unavailability. These include Richard Dalgleish, Kyle Hatherell and Gregor Paxton (sponsored by Wheelie Clean). There are enforced changes with Conor and Scott Bickerstaff being unavailable. Ollie Rossi retains the starting berth in the front row and with Stephen Adair (sponsored by Toner and McCartney) amongst others the bench Marr have the good options for impact replacements that help strengthen the overall squad.

Marr Rugby 2nd XV preview: In the final fixture of the first leg of the league campaign a hard test awaits the 2s as they travel to Dundee to face the Titans. Whilst Marr have been going well and Dundee sit mid table we well know that Mayfield is an unforgiving place where mistakes are quickly punished by the home side. Therefore Marr need to ensure they quickly get up to match speed and sharpness. A strong side with a good blend of experience and youth has been selected for this significant fixture. With Hawick still leading the table by nine points Marr cannot afford a slip-up.

Ali Hazel (Sponsored by Lloydies)) starts at scrum-half where he will partner Rory McGee and they will unleash a strong running back line as and when the opportunity presents. There's a relatively unchanged pack with a fair bit of experience threaded throughout despite the average age being well under 25. Fraser 'Rhino' Ferguson and Neil Wallace (sponsored by Aspire School of Beauty) are anchor the front-row and along with the rest of the forwards provide a healthy dynamic and explosive option and bonus in open play.

Marr Rugby 3rd XV preview: The 3s have a local derby against Cumnock’s 2nd XV in what will be a further test of guts, skill and resolve as our troops - comprising a mix of young and not so that continue to grow and develop. The squad is flourishing from getting regular rugby and relishing the challenge of playing against other clubs second tier of senior players. With a healthy number of players team coach Andrew Mathieson - fresh from his coaching session masterclass with Gregor Townsend - has been able to set out a strong side. Now it's up to the players to deliver.
