Marr Rugby - senior squad selections for 17 April 2018: Greenyards set to turn purple and gold while 3s face tough trip to the Bearyards

Aberdeen Standard Investments Melrose 7s – Round 1: Kelso RFC v Marr Rugby
BT West Reserve League 2: Allan Glen’s RFC 2s v Marr Rugby

Marr Rugby supporters will once again descend on the Greenyards to turn Melrose purple and gold as the Marr Rugby 7s squad head to the home of 7s rugby.

In the first round they play Kelso at 12:38pm and as it is a straight knockout format Marr will have to be fired up and ready to go to avoid last years exit in the first round at the hands of Kelso!

Kenny Diffenthal has been leading the coaching of the 7’s squad supported by Gregor Ness who takes up an assistant coaching role to gain valuable experience. Conor Bickerstaff captains the side on our 3rd appearance at the famous Melrose 7’s.

With a sizeable pool of players making themselves available and competing for selection, including Glasgow Warrior’s Samu Vunisa and Leila Masaga, the coaching team have had a tough challenge in making the cut. Unfortunately for us, Lelia Masaga was recalled to the Glasgow Warriors ranks for tonight’s game and therefore could not be selected. Samu will add some Fijian flair to a squad packed with power and pace.
