Marr Rugby - senior squad selections for 14 October 2017

BT Premiership: Melrose RFC v Marr Rugby
BT National Reserve: Marr Rugby v Musselburgh RFC
BT West Reserve League 2: West of Scotland FC v Marr Rugby - OFF

Marr Rugby’s senior sides face another set of challenging fixtures in the latest round of league matches.

After last week’s bruising encounter the 1s face an even tougher test as they travel to the Greenyards to meet Melrose who are unbeaten so far this season. Meanwhile the 2s play host to fourth placed Musselburgh. The 3s were scheduled to be on the road to Burnbrae to play West of Scotland 2As but West cancelled.

Marr Rugby 1st XV preview: Craig Redpath takes his squad to his rugby roots for their first ever encounter against Melrose. No doubt he’d have preferred to go to the Greenyards with his strongest possible team but injuries and other unavailability, through a variety of reasons, sees further changes in the 1s squad and starting line-up. In the pack James Malcolm makes a welcome and timely return and Fraser Grant starts at number eight. Ross Jackson is added as back row cover on the bench where he joins Stephen Adair and Chris Nisbet. There are a number of positional changes in the backs. Craig Kolarik swaps positions with Dougie Steele. Winger Tom Steven returns from injury to add his power to the backline and this enables Richard Dalgleish to move to centre where he partners Conor Bickerstaff. Gregor Ness (sponsored by Bearing Gifts) and Max Freydell are included on the bench as backs cover.

So far this season Melrose have been taking the league by storm. They have swept aside opposition with little difficulty. Marr, and in particular Craig, can expect a warm welcome from the home crowd as they celebrate their 140th birthday weekend.
