Marr Rugby 7s

Marr Rugby 7s update - Another huge weekend ahead across the club with Marr Rugby players playing across three countries and another historic achievement from one of our home grown players.

Conor Bickerstaff becomes the first Marr Rugby player to be selected for the world famous Samurai 7’s squad to compete in the UK Super Sevens Series. The 1st leg of the competition takes place at Bury St Edmunds rugby club. With a whole host of Aviva Premiership academy squads involved this is as close to the International World 7’s series standard as you can get as an amateur and we are delighted that coach Scott Wight has selected Conor to play at this level. With the likes of Worcester no.8 Andrew Durutalo & recently signed Edinburgh scrum half Charlie Shiel in the squad this is a fantastic opportunity for Conor to show what he can do for the most successful invitational 7s team in history.

More locally, the senior 7s squad head to Laigh Bent for the BIG WEEKEND aiming to defend their Hamilton 7’s title after a great win last year. The U18’s are also involved in the U18 tournament which runs at the same time, so a there's a unique chance for Marr supporters to watch both the current and future squads!

Last but not least, good wishes go to Scott Bickerstaff who heads to Kinsale, Ireland for his 9th appearance with the PROJECX Waterboys.

Marr Rugby supporters are encouraged to head to Hamilton for 12:30pm to catch all the action. If you can't make it to Lanarkshire and are in or near Suffolk the head for Bury St Edmunds and if you are in or around Cork then head for Kinsale and help fly the purple and gold banner.
