Marr Rugby 2s coaching team announced

Marr Rugby is delighted to announce that Mark Underwood has agreed to take on responsibilities as Coach for the 2nd XV. He will be supported by Ross Campbell and a number of other senior players have also stepped forward to offer to help with some of essential tasks needed to get a side on the field.
At the end of last season and following another successful campaign for the 2nd XV where they again won their league and secured promotion the former coaching team of Don Morrison and Gavin Mason had to step down due to work and other commitments.
Following this, the search for suitable replacements to build on the success has taken some time.
During the off season Mark, who had around the same time announced the end of a long playing career, came forward in true purple and gold tradition and intimated he was willing to help. Having played at all levels for Marr Rugby, previously been involved in youth coaching and as a senior player worked with a number of coaches Mark is ideally suited for the new role. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and energy to the role. He is one of many committed to ensuring Marr Rugby achieves its Vision and helping players to develop to enjoy rugby and reap the benefits this brings to them as individuals and to the team.
Working alongside Mark is Ross Campbell who has many years playing experience at all levels across the club and is now ready to further develop his coaching skills. Last season he helped provide cover for Don and Gavin when they were unavailable and as a core member of the 2nd XV and former 1st XV regular he has a very good grasp of the playing potential and what is needed to help the squad’s continued development.
With promotion the 2s have a great opportunity to experience playing rugby at a new level and the new coaching team, who will work closely with Head Coach Craig Redpath and Paul Burke as well as the other senior sides coaches know the coming season presents a great challenge that they will meet head on.
The future remains bright….
