Marr Youth sides kick off their season.

The weekend saw all 5 Marrs Youth sides back in action, kicking off their season with Pre Season fixtures against GHA & Ayr.

The coaches and players have spent the Summer break working hard on their strength and conditioning to prepare themselves for the season ahead. The U18 squad have just completed a 10 week S&C block which was delivered by Head of Strength and Conditioning Scott Bickerstaff, this will provide the group with superb momentum for a big season ahead.

Match details below:

S1 v GHA
On Sunday Marrs S1 squad travelled up the M77 to take on GHA at Braidholm. The coaches headed up by club legend Don Morrison have worked hard over the summer to transition the squad from mini into youth rugby with the main changes being the full size pitch. The early signs are very positive with a fantastic first outing of the season resulting in a 26-4 victory.

S2 v GHA
The S2 squad also travelled to GHA on Sunday and came up against a big and powerful side. Coaches John Bell, David Christian and Andrew Brown were delighted by the defensive work on show from their squad. Keeping GHA at bay on numerous occasions as they looked certain to score. Marrs slick handling and speed out wide saw the score 3 excellent tries and come away with a 11-9 win.

U15 v GHA
Sunday afternoon saw the U15 squad host GHA at the College playing fields. GHA were big and very well drilled giving Marr a tough day at the office but the boys never gave up and stuck in until the end showing great character which will stand them in good stead for the season ahead.

U16 v Ayr
On Sunday morning the U16's took on Ayr with GHA being unable to field a team. The horrible weather conditions made moving the ball difficult but Marr Head Coach Ewan Bulger was very happy with his sides performance which saw them come away with a 19-10 win.

U18 v GHA
On Saturday afternoon Marr travelled to Braidholm to take on GHA in their first season of the fixture. The squad has been working incredibly hard during Pre Season and were buzzing to finally get out on the field for some competitive rugby. Head Coach Gregor Ness used 26 players in the 29-19 defeat but was very pleased with the boys first hit out.

The squads will continue building towards the first conference fixture of the season with another Pre Season Fixture tonight against Ayr at Milbrae and Doonside.
