Marr Rugby has been made aware of the passing of Peter Marr, the oldest living descendant of Charles Kerr Marr.

Tribute to Peter Marr

Marr Rugby has been made aware that Peter Marr died peacefully and painlessly at his Care Home in Wooler on Sunday 28th September. He is to be buried at midday on 17th October at St Michael's & All Angels Church, Ilderton, Northumberland, NE66 4YD. Until his passing Peter was the oldest living descendant of Charles Kerr Marr.

Peter connected with the Club several years ago when he met-up with a number of club members at the Melrose Sevens. Pre-Pandemic, Marr Rugby kept in regular contact with Peter and on occasion were able to host him at the occasional away game, those within reasonable travelling distance of Northumberland, picking him up and returning him to the nearest railway station.

Peter took huge delight and pride in following the fortunes of Marr Rugby. His family are still in possession of Marr scarves and younger family members still have Marr rugby shirts. His family will place his Marr scarf inside his coffin, along with a few other important personal treasures for his onward journey.

The family address, should anyone wish to send a letter of condolence, is The Coachhouse, Middleton Hall, Wooler, Northumberland, NE71 6RD.

RIP Peter Marr
