MARR RUGBY vs SELKIRK - TENNENTS PREMIERSHIP - 3pm KO @ FULLARTON

MARR 3RD XV vs CARRICK 2ND XV - TENNENT’S RESERVE WEST DIVISION 3 - 2:30pm KO @ Marr College playing fields.

After some rewarding results in recent weeks, Marr will face old rivals Selkirk when they will compete for the Bill McLaren Shield. A full house is also expected at the supporters lunch which will celebrate our current centurions with no doubt some comical words from TP the VP!

Selkirk are currently sitting fourth in the Tennent’s Premiership and have had some impressive results recently. Last week they defeated Jed Forest at home with a last gasp winning try from their Kiwi full back Henry Bithray. The week before that they drew with Hawick, and their most impressive result, was the hammering of Glasgow Hawks at home, when they hit them for 50 points! Former Scotland 7's international Scott Wight has taken the reigns as head coach this season and has them playing an impressive brand of rugby.

Most of the Marr faithful will also be aware that Selkirk were the only team last year to take anything at Fortress Fullarton, when they drew 17 points all. Coupled up with a defeat at Philliphaugh last season, Selkirk have always been a very tough opponent so Craig Redpath will know that yet again Marr will have to be at their best to break down Selkirk’s mean defence on what is set to be a heavy Fullarton pitch after a wet week.

Selection this week was easy for Craig, as he has selected the exact same team and bench that convincingly beat Hawick last week. He will be looking for the identical attitude and focus that has provided Marr over the last six weeks with their most impressive start.

We would ask the home support to show appreciation to our P3 team who are providing the guard of honour this Saturday and the lucky player who is the team mascot is this week, Sandy O’Sullivan.

This week the 2nd XV have a free week so many of them will be there to cheer on the lads at the side of the pitch with there usual not so quiet vocals! A special mention goes to 2 of our young guns in Kyle McCulloch & Ryan Brown who represent Scotland at Rugby League this weekend in their U19 fixture.
