A massive congratulations to Marr College 1st XV player Sam Christian on winning Scottish Rugby's Volunteer of the Season in Schools Rugby (Glasgow South Region).

Sam won the award for his fantastic contribution to the Marr College Rugby Programme where he assists with the delivery of Extra Curricular sessions, referees matches and provides the young players with a fantastic role model.

Below are the comments of Marr College Head of Rugby, Colin Sturgeon on the great work Sam does:

"Sam has been involved with coaching at Marr College and Marr RFC since he was a 3rd year pupil. He assists with S1 & S2 Extra Curricular Rugby every Monday where we have large numbers at both age groups. He has a fantastic repour with the kids which he has built up over the last couple of years. His confidence has grown and he is now comfortable leading groups in both drills and games.

Sam has been a valuable member of the Marr Rugby Summer Camp coaching team for the last 2 years as a volunteer and has now secured a role as Lead Coach for the 2023 Camp in a paid capacity.

Sam is someone that can always be relied on, he provides all of our young pupils with a fantastic role model whether that be on the pitch or around the school."

Sam was invited to Scotstoun for Glasgow's recent URC match with Zebre where he received his award on the pitch at half time.
