Marr Rugby update (31.8.2021): Seniors squads - Who's in for Season 2021/2022
After the enforced break we are delighted that senior competitive rugby is finally returning and we look forward to seeing Marr Rugby's Purple and Gold Army of supporters on the touchline.
Since our senior sides last played league fixtures (7 March 2020) we have been working hard to ensure that players remained ready for the return of rugby.
As we now look ahead to the start of the new season, we know that many Marr Rugby supporters will have been wondering about the impact the break has had on playing numbers at all levels. We have been very fortunate to continue to see high numbers participating at all levels. This season we will again be fielding three senior XV’s.
Looking at our senior squads for 2021/2022 we are welcoming a significant number of new faces.
The following lists detail those players joining Marr Rugby, either as graduates from our youth development programme at Marr College or from elsewhere.
The Marr College graduates include some names you will recognise as, while still at school, having made their breakthrough into a senior side, in February 2020. We have opted to include them as they and the rest of the new players will be settling into their first full season at Marr Rugby.
From Marr College and now part of our 1st, 2nd or 3rd XV playing groups:
From other schools and clubs and now part of our 1st and 2nd XV playing group:
From other clubs and now part of our 3rd XV playing group:
In total, we have 45 new players joining our senior rugby squads.
With 32 of them moving up from Marr College we see this is a great achievement and testament to the long term work we are doing at youth development and continues to bode well for the future.
Well done to these 'graduates' and to all the coaches, parents and development team who have helped them reach this stage of their playing career.
We also know that the Marr Rugby support will extend their usual warm welcome to the others who have arrived to continue their rugby careers at Fullarton.
The future remains bright...
A quick word of thanks to players who have moved on since our last competitive fixture. Anyone that pulls on a purple and gold jersey will always be made welcome at Fullarton. We expect some of these "retirements" to be part time, but nevertheless worth mentioning so the Fullarton faithful have the full picture.
