Note – In the 3rd’s league fixture Uddingston failed to field team. As a result, Marr Rugby 3rd XV played a friendly match against Lanark RFC 1st XV who were also without a fixture and kindly agreed to travel to Fullarton – many thanks to Lanark RFC and good wishes for the rest of your season. Thanks also go to Steven Baker for stepping in to referee this match.

1st XV Match summary: Match report to follow - Round 2 of the season saw the first home match of the season for Marr Rugby’s 1st XV and a bonus point win, achieved in a very stop/start game that was fractured with frequent interruptions, including more than 30 penalties.

Despite going behind to an opening penalty Marr got off to a promising start with some exciting phases of open play between forwards and backs. Mackenzie Pearce (sponsored by AG Peters) opened Marr’s account and on the quarter hour mark Conor Bickerstaff added try number two. Marr found themselves repeatedly pinged for being offside and following one of these Musselburgh’s Paul Cunningham added a second penalty. The second quarter was equally fractured but the half ended with a third Marr try, scored by Richard Dalgleish and an opening try for Musselburgh.

In the second half Marr added three further tries with Jack Preston, Gregor Paxton and in the closing play Iosefo Turaga crossing the line.

In the end it was a comfortable win for Marr but with more to come.

2nd XV match summary – full details to follow but in short: For the second week in a row the tempest that is Marr Rugby’s 2nd XV struck the west end of Glasgow. This time it was Hillhead/Jordnahill left to pick up the pieces as Marr’s squad were alertness in securing another sixty point score while conceding only a single try. Ironically the feedback is that if Marr had managed to convert all of their changes we might have been looking at a result approaching a very high two and possible three figure margin. Keith and Gordon’s squad have hit the ground running. Along with GHA and Hamilton they are blasting their way through the opposition in these opening rounds. Marr’s big test will happen this coming Saturday when they travel with the 1s to play league leaders GHA.
Man of match and scorer info to follow.

3rd XV match summary – full details to follow but in short: On Thursday, Uddingston RFC 2s declared they wouldn’t be able to fulfil the fixture. While this was disappointing we are grateful to Uddingston for making the call early enough to allow the 3s to seek an alternative match. Lanark RFC – also looking for a fixture as they opponents called off- very kindly agreed to travel to Fullarton. As a result almost 50 players got to play some rugby – social but with a competitive edge. Marr proved to strong scoring five tries while conceding only one. It was a good run out for both teams.
