Marr Rugby 1st XV
Marr Rugby’s 1st XV maintained their lead at the top of NL1 in the neck and neck race with Jed-Forest after a hard fought but well deserved bonus point win against Hamilton.

It was a tough afternoon with Marr having to work extra hard to break down a relatively tight defence. Marr’s day was made even harder when after only twelve minutes on the clock they lost the services of Dan Law who was given an early bath following an off the ball incident that led to intervention by the assistant referee. This disadvantage was compounded with two other yellow cards for Marr players during the match. There was much credit though for this Marr side that defended valiantly and withstood sustained pressure from Hamilton who tried to capitalise on their numerical advantage. Following the first dismissal Marr worked even more aggressively in attack and eventually broke down a stubborn defence with some very well worked team tries and some magic moments.

The day’s results mean that with two games left Marr and Jed’s challenge for the league title will go down to the final day of the season on 20 April, when Marr host Gala and Jed-Forest travel to Musselburgh.

Marr Rugby 3rd XV
With one match left to complete their season Marr Rugby’s 3rd XV is still fighting for survival in the league. This season Marr has been playing in the top regional reserve league against other clubs 2nd VX’s and found going tough. They are at the wrong end of the table but there is a real chance they will manage to survive and build on the experience and opportunity. The final fixture on 13 April – away against West of Scotland - is a critical match that they must get points from.
