Marr Rugby preview: Big weekend ahead, another Centurion and a further club milestone reached
A feast of rugby is in store this weekend for Marr Rugby supporters, including the 1st XV’s Premiership play-off semi-final match against Hawick, which will see the winners progress to the final and can win the Premiership title. This is the club’s third year in the Premiership and supporters will remember that two years ago we were lined up for a semi-final tie, but this didn’t take place as the first lockdown was implemented and ultimately the season was cancelled.
This match is a first for the club and adds another chapter to Marr Rugby history.
It will also see Angus Johnston make his 100th 1st XV appearance. Angus has played with Marr Rugby since Marr Rugby minis (P5) and graduated through the ranks to gain his place in the 1st XV, making his debut appearance in 2013/14. In Season 2016/17 he was captain when the team won the title and secured promotion to the Premiership. He's a Marr Rugby warrior and sets a standard for other to follow.

Marr Rugby 1st XV preview: This season’s Premiership title race reaches the closing stages with the top four sides playing off with the winners’ reward a place in the Grand Final that is set for Saturday 2 April.
While Marr play Hawick the other semi-final is being played at Malleny Park and sees Currie Chieftains host Edinburgh Accies.
Marr’s last home match was against Hawick on the 19th February and it was another hard fought and tight contest. Up until the closing stages it was finely balanced match and it took some magic from Marr to edge ahead and finally come out on top (21-10). Hawick will still be hurting from what they viewed was a missed opportunity and will be fired up so Marr need to make sure they are at their best to deal with the challenge from the Green machine.
Marr’s selection has been hampered by injuries, with Jamie Shedden and Jordan McLean joining the growing list of unavailable players.
Marr’s players know that they are continuing to add to the club’s history and the scene is set for an exciting afternoon and there’s little doubt that they will be ultra-focused on winning to get the chance for silverware.

Marr Rugby 2nd XV preview: It’s the final match of this season’s campaign for the 2s and they face a tricky away match against an improving Glasgow Accies side. Coaches Keith Dunsmuir and Gordon McMillan had their own selection headache – this one caused by having almost 30 players sticking their hand up for a place in the squad. Marr’s season has seen some mixed performances and results, especially in the first half of the campaign, but all credit to the 2s for continuing to improve and as a reward earn a top four spot. They have the potential of pulling off a win to end their season in style.
