Marr 1st XV versus Aberdeen Grammar
Match Sponsors: TR Bonnyman Son & Co Ltd and Finesse Marquees.
It will be a busy Fullarton on Saturday when Marr entertain the men from the North, Aberdeen Grammar.
Craig Redpath and Kenny Diffenthal as coaches will be looking for a reaction from last weeks disappointing result away to Currie Chieftans.
Marr has a good record against Grammar with several victories over the last few seasons.
However, the coaching team have had some problems with a few injuries and some unavailable this week, but still field an experienced and talented XV.
There are a few changes from last week. Robert Brown and Fraser Grant are unavailable due to work commitments. Kyle Vallance, Colin Sturgeon and Greg Montgomery are out injured.
In the pack second row, Harry Murray returns, Cody Cunningham and Ben Johnston return to the back row and Scotland International, Gordon Reid will start at tighthead.
Behind the scrum Callum Inglis will start at stand-off and Jack Scott will move to full back allowing Iosefo Turaga to start on the wing. Exciting prospect, Jamie Shedden starts at outside centre with Scott McDonald and William Farquhar dropping to the bench.
This Saturday we celebrate Vice Captain and talisman Mackenzie Pearce becoming the latest centurion, running out for his 100th 1st XV appearance.
The back rower has been one of the first names on the team sheet since joining the club in 2015, racking up 34 tries as well as doubling our physios strapping budget!
Mackenzie began his rugby at Kilmarnock before moving to Biggar where he then joined us, immediately becoming a fan favourite for his brutal physicality and energy around the pitch. He’s developed into a real pack leader for us who leads by example everytime he pulls on the jersey.
Congratulations to Mackenzie on becoming a Marr centurion and best of luck for Saturday!
Marr 2nd XV will play earlier [1 30pm] and will look forward to the confrontation with local rivals Ayr Millbrae. So please get up early and take in two matches!
Marr 3rd XV will be disappointed that their match against Carrick 2nd XV has been cancelled as Carrick have withdrawn from the league, being unable to field a team.
Marr would like to thank TR Bonnyman Son & Co ltd who are this week’s match sponsors and Finesse Marquees for supplying the brilliant marquee that seriously helps with the prematch lunch and the post-match events.
Please look out for Marr P6 Bruno Avignon who is this week’s team mascot with his fellow players doing the guard of honour.
