Marr Rugby has faced a significant challenge when long serving School Masters John Sharkey who retired from teaching and Allan Wright who was no longer available on Saturdays as to how best to continue with Rugby at Marr College, a school with a long and proud rugby tradition.

It was felt that the best rout to continue this was for Marr Rugby to provide coaching support to maintain the existing school fixtures, the rational being that when playing school games the boys will have access to the best pitches and best referees on a Saturday morning as opposed to the afternoon when Senior Club sides are likely to be using these facilities.

Marr Rugby has put together an impressive team to take our vision forward:

S1  •  John Hazel, Robbie Scott, Ruaridh Mayes, Allan Wright & Donald Macintyre

S2  •  James Gray, Chris Minto, Wallace Stevenson & Crawford McGuffie

S3  •  Robert Clark, Hamish Miller, Keir Dunlop & Tayte Cozens (The S3 coaches will also facilitate the club U15’ s)

U16  •  John Sharkey

U18  •  John Sharkey, Kenny Blair, Craig Redpath, Stewart Evans, Ian Calderwood & Andrew Bate

Fitness  • Robbie Scott and Tayte Cozens both of whom have completed the specialist conditioning course with the SRU.
