Marr Rugby 1st XV match preview: It's a top v second bottom clash as Marr Rugby’s 1st XV face Hamilton. This is another match where Marr’s squad need to be focused and disciplined for the full eighty minutes as they face another side fighting to escape the relegation zone. This is Hamilton’s first year in NL1 and Marr supporters and players only need to think back two seasons when we were in our first year in this division and found ourselves in a similar position. We went on to survive and cause some upsets on the way. Hamilton’s players are capable of doing likewise. Player coach Richard Maxton and Scott Alexander will pose problems in open play and at the breakdown and Andy Wilson and Owen McLeish in the backs are prolific point’s scorers.
Earlier in the season Marr enjoyed a comfortable win against Hamilton…but we don’t need to look to far back to a day when Hamilton gave us a healthy lesson in game management so we need to show we continue to have learned from this.
From Marr’s perspective it’s great to welcome back Will Farquhar from injury to help add further depth to vital front row cover. After a six month lay-off he’s been putting in some good shifts at training and as well as his work in the set piece we know that in open play he’s a pacey and effective runner. Kris Kirk also returns following a short term injury and Stuart Howie (sponsored by Fusion Sportswear) holds on to the fullback jersey.
So long as Saturday’s match goes ahead and there’s no other sudden and unexpected changes we look forward on Saturday to seeing Stephen Adair (sponsored by Toner and McCartney) joining the illustrious band of Marr Rugby 1st XV Centurions. Stephen’s contribution during Marr Rugby’s purple and gold journey has been exceptional. He’s set standards of play and performance that have helped in the development of the squad and this has helped us reach the level at which we are now playing. Stephen is now very much part of the Marr family.

Marr Rugby 2nd XV match preview: Marr Rugby’s 2nd XV continue to deliver very good performances achieving great results and an overall exceptional performance. Earlier in the season at Fullarton, during the first leg, Hamilton was overwhelmed by some clinical finishing. Whilst Marr nee to deliver a similar performance we must keep in mind that this will be against Hamilton’s 3rd XV and we would be delighted if our third string was playing at this level.

Marr Rugby 3rd XV match preview: Marr’s 3rd XV have their fingers crossed that there are no unforeseen glitches that prevent them finally getting a competitive match. It’s been a long season for Marr’s ‘senior’ senior squad and game time has been at a premium. Marr’s squad will be finalised on Saturday but is likely to include Johnny Connell - making another comeback; influential Neil Campion and man of steel Don Morrison.
