Rory is volunteering on the Bhubesi Pride Foundation 'Rugby in Africa 2016' programme

As Some of you may know, I will be taking a 'career break' from January until July in order to volunteer with a fantastic charity called the Bhubesi Pride Foundation.

Every year the Bhubesi Pride Foundation (BPF) assembles qualified and dedicated teams of volunteers to carry out annual coaching expeditions, supporting rugby and community development in schools and community centres in nine countries across east and southern Africa.

The objectives of the charity are:

UNITE communities through rugby, promoting the sport’s values and life skills.
EMPOWER and up-skill local staff, nurturing community leaders, male and female, maximising sustainability.
INSPIRE long-term developmental outcomes through tangible legacy projects, alongside in-country partners.

The 2016 programme will see us working in the following 9 countries over the 5-month period: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia & South Africa.

For further info please visit rugbyinafrica.org

I would like to take this opportunity to first of all thank Marr Rugby and the SRU for allowing me to take a career break in order to take up a place on the programme.

Secondly, I would like to ask for your support.
A place on the programme comes with a volunteer fee and I am currently attempting to raise funds to contribute towards this fee. All funds raised go directly to the charity in order to help them to continue carrying out their inspirational work throughout the African continent.
