Tough draw awaits Falcon's team from Fullarton

Marr head to the home of 7's this weekend to take part in the Melrose 7's for the 2nd time in the club's history. Our thanks go to Melrose for the invitation to this world famous tournament at The Greenyards.

In our first outing last year, we performed above expectations having had no prior 7's training whatsoever. A comfortable win against Stirling County in round 1 was followed by a heartbreaking last play defeat to Heriots in round 2.

This season we go in with similar preparation, with most of the team still recovering from last weekend's celebrations. A couple of training sessions mid week master minded by Kenny Diffenthal and were good to go.

We are on the very first game, 11:30am KO, and face a very tricky tie against border club Kelso. With the winner of that tie facing Watsonians in round 2. Both of those matches will probably be too early for the BBC cameras.

Grant "Falcon" Baird will captain Marr for the first time having been our stand out performer at the tournament last year. Falcon on his captaincy "It is a huge honour to captain the boys at Melrose, but it is about time it was taken off Gus. He's been rubbish".

Angus Johnston (Injury), Ben Johnston (Hong Kong), Craig Kolarik (Abroad), William Farquhar (Too Fast) and Gregor Ness (Still Gassed) all miss out.
