Marr versus Kirkcaldy

Gregor Paxton bursts through the Kirkcaldy defence

MATCH PREVIEW
MARR versus KIRKCALDY, TENNENTS NATIONAL DIVISION 1 KO 3PM
After what seems like an eternity 1st XV rugby is back at Fullarton. This rearranged match that was supposed to take place in December was postponed due to the hazardous travelling conditions.
Kirkcaldy are currently sitting 11th in TENNENTS NATIONAL 1, however they have been pushing many much higher placed teams all the way and only getting defeated by a few points. Therefore Marr will not be taking this fixture lightly and will be giving their performance full attention.
The biggest change in the team is the return of Gregor Ness. Gregor has been out of action for nearly a year due to injury. In fact his last game was against Melrose in the Premiership. Gregor will be playing in his favoured stand-off position in place of our usual number 10, Colin Sturgeon who is currently away on business. Gregor, as we know has been Marr through and through and will bring his great experience of 116 caps to get our back division operating to its full potential.
Another player who we warmly welcome back is Marr favourite Kyle Valance. Kyle will hopefully look to make an impact from the bench, for his first appearance since last season.
The last occasion we played Kirkcaldy was back in September away from home, when we managed a win 41 points to 17. Kirkcaldy have probably the heaviest pack in the division and their forwards will put all teams to the test. Marr will be looking to use a more expansive game to try to stretch the Kirkcaldy defence to the utmost.
Our head coach Craig Redpath will be missing for this match and we would like to wish him all the best for his knee operation. I am sure he will be watching for the updates on twitter!
Our other very experienced coach Kenny Diffenthal will be ensuring that Marr will be focused on the job at hand.
There are no other senior matches this weekend due to the Six Nations.
