Marr Rugby: Update re pitches and access - safety and security

For some time we have been thinking about how to improve safety and security around the pitches. We want to make sure pitches are safe from damage and also when we have training or matches being played we are better able to manage access.

The Open Golf campsite provided us with an ideal opportunity to look at options. From this, we have opted for a long term plan to introduce a beech hedge around the boundary. As members know this will not be done overnight and we have to consider the impact on our near neighbours.

As an interim measure, we are introducing fencing around the perimeter to restrict access to a couple of key points. On 1st XV match days these will become the points where match entry is collected.

IMPORTANT - 1st XV match day parking: On 1st XV match days we already restrict access to the main car park. This is to allow us prioritise parking; including travelling teams, match officials and those who have Blue Badges.

With the new points of entry there will be more pedestrian movement around the clubhouse. As a safety measure the main car park will be closed from one hour before kick-off and controlled access only provided to emergency vehicles and Blue Badge holders.

If travelling by car, please consider car sharing and arrive early. When ground conditions are suitable we will open up car parking on this airport side of the pitches.

This is a small change and to help it work smoothly we would ask all supporters to arrive early so we can get you safely in to enjoy the full match.

In recent years Marr Rugby has made significant progress but there is still some way to go...be a full and active part of the Marr Rugby family.

The future is brighter!
