Marr Rugby round-up: Departing players – Dan Law becomes a Bucaneer

Marr Rugby announces that Dan Law is moving to join Buccaneers RFC, Athlone and continue his rugby career playing in Ireland’s top club division.

Dan arrived at Marr at the end of October 2016 and was an immediate hit. He made a major impact and became a key figure in the 1st XV’s title winning team. Dan went on to be awarded Marr Rugby’s Player of the Year. For part of the season he helped in youth rugby development as assistant club rugby development officer. He finished the season playing as part of Marr's 7s squad and has been able to add an appearance at the prestigious Melrose 7s to his rugby CV.

Dan is unable to continue to play with Marr next season due to controls on non UU/EEA players eligible to play in the BT Premiership.

Dan previously played with Old Boys-Marist and Palmerston North in New Zealand. He has also played as part of the Manawatu Development Squad. His time playing abroad is part of his plan to extend his rugby experience to help develop his playing skills and enable him to make a step up when he returns to New Zealand. He can now look forward to playing against some of Ireland’s top clubs – for example Garryowen and Lansdown and St. Mary’s College.

All at Marr Rugby thank Dan for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future.

Details of other movements on the player front will shortly be announced.
