Marr Rugby round-up BT Premiership Pro draft 2017/18

Marr Rugby round-up: 1st XV’s draft players for BT Premiership season 2017/18

Being part of the BT Premiership means we are included in the ‘draft’ of professional players from Glasgow Warriors, Edinburgh Rugby and those contracted to the Scotland 7’s squad. Scottish Rugby’s high performance team, in conjunction with the professional clubs decides which players are available for the draft and align the Premiership clubs to either of the pro teams and the deployment of the 7s players.

Understandably, Marr Rugby was aligned to Glasgow Warriors. Last week, along with Ayr, Currie, Glasgow Hawks and Stirling County, we entered into a quite interesting exercise of trying to select a group of players who might during the season be available for selection by our head coach Craig Redpath to turn out wearing the Purple and Gold of Marr Rugby.

One of the draftees has already experienced playing as part of Marr Rugby’s 1st XV, is a graduate of Marr Rugby’s youth work at Mini and Midi/School level, has played for Scotland at age grade level up to U20 and is on the cusp of a full International cap. He knows the Marr experience and we look forward to his return to help his home club in the BT Premiership. We also very much look forward to welcoming the others into the Marr Rugby family and to the experience of Hecklers’ Hill or being part of the away team

We know that all at Marr Rugby will give a very warm welcome to the following players who become part of Marr Rugby 2017/18

Siosiua Halanukonuka: Glasgow Warriors - Prop (Tonga and Highlanders)

Oli Kebble: Glasgow Warriors – Prop (South Africa (U20), Stormers and Western Province)
