Marr Rugby round up – 1s stay on course as they hit Cartha for six and a bit more

Tennent’s NL1: Marr Rugby 85 – Cartha QP RFC 19

Marr Rugby 1st XV
Marr Rugby blew Cartha away with the scintillating performance of power and skill that has been threatened all season. Forwards and backs combined well and scores came from a mixture of training ground moves as well as counterattacks from deep defence as they punished any errors made any Cartha.

Scoring 13 tries while conceding three, it was a comfortable and convincing win. Marr worked hard in defence and attack. It wasn’t all one way traffic. Cartha enjoyed good phases of possession and territory but under extreme pressure they were limited in managing to convert many plays into points on the scoreboard.

Within five minutes Richard Dalgleish’s nifty footwork opened the scoring for Marr and from then on Marr simply battered away at Cartha’s defence and exploited as many opportunities as possible. Cartha worked hard in defence and put in some telling tackles to try to keep Marr at bay. However they couldn’t prevent Scott Bickerstaff scoring Marr’s fourth try just before half time to secure the bonus point . Mackenzie Pearce scored immediately after the restart to give Cartha no respite and the half ended with Marr leading 33 – 0

In the second half as players tired the gaps in the defences grew bigger and Marr rattled in eight more tries while conceding three.
