Season 2018/19 gets underway for Marr Rugby with two home fixtures involving the 1st XV and newly promoted 2nd XV whilst the newly promoted 3rd XV is on the road to Braidholm to play GHA’s 2nd XV.

At Fullarton the 1s entertain old adversaries Dundee High while its new territory for the 2s as they take on Boroughmuir.

The 2s get proceedings underway and coaches Keith Dunsmuir and Gordon McMillan have their squad well set up for what will be their most challenging season to date. Almost all of their opponents in Reserve NL1 are Premiership sides’ second strings so this will be a real test for Marr’s players in performance, depth of squad and resilience.

In the 1s match newly appointed captain Conor Bickerstaff, who is making his 150th appearance for Marr Rugby’s 1st XV, will lead the way as Marr aim to get the new campaign off to a healthy start. This season Conor is being supported by new vice captains McKenzie Pearce and Ross Miller.

There are a number of new faces at Marr, including new players Calvin Henderson, Graeme Dick, Liam McLoughlin and Fraser Miller. Another new face on the touchline will be Master Fergus Anthony Syme Adair and all at Marr Rugby pass on congratulations to Clair and Stephen following the recent birth of young Fergus. We know that the Marr support will make them most welcome

Dundee’s experienced coaching team led by Colin Sangster, and including player coach Phil Godman, a former Scotland capped internationalist will have done their homework in preparing to outfox Craig Redpath and Kenny Diffenthal so we expect as vigorous a battle in the technical area as well as is going on in the pitch.
