ALAN GLENS 2ND XV versus MARR 3R XV, TENNENTS WEST RESERVE LEAGUE 1, Away KO 2PM
Marr head off to Poynder Park.
Also, Exciting times for Marr 2nd XV as they introduce the stars of the future to senior rugby.
Marr 1st XV know that it is never an easy trip, when they make the journey to the Borders region.
The only games that Marr have lost this year have all happened when they have travelled south of Edinburgh.
However, Marr will be full of confidence as they sit on top of Tennent’s National League 1 and they also defeated Kelso at home earlier in the season by 45 points to 12.
Head coach Craig Redpath will be keen to make sure his players start 2019 the way they finished before Christmas and that they continue to play fluent rugby.
Marr will not travel with two of their stalwarts, as Ben Johnston starts his new career in Reading and Mackenzie Pearce, who is missing through suspension.
Marr would like to wish Big Ben the best of luck and thank him for his invaluable service to Marr over the last several years.
In his place comes Callum Steel, who we all know will make a big impact and Gregor Paxton comes in for Richard Dalgleish, who is away for a break in New Zealand.
Marr 2nd XV have taken the opportunity to utilise their fantastic youth section, as they have selected several of our highly successful under 18 side into the squad. Ryan Brown, Gregor Beckwith, Murray Blair, Kyle McCulloch, Jamie Drummond, Ethan Reilly, Mackenzie Smith, Evan Light and Mathew O’Leary will hopefully all feature as they take on the current strongest 2nd XV in the country when they face Heriot’s Blues. However we all know when Marr 2nd XV have their players available they need not fear any side.
To add even more interest to this match, Marr are delighted to welcome back, after long term injury Gregor Ness and also one of our longest playing 1st XV legends Chris Nisbet. [Nizzy].
So if you cannot make it down to Poynder Park please go along to Fullarton and cheer on the 2nd XV, which I am sure will be a very interesting game.
