FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS FOR THE 2ND XV AYRSHIRE DERBY

First match of a cracking weekend of rugby sees a 2nd XV clash between Marr & Ayr at the Marr College Playing Fields. The game will be played on the Astro under the lights and is shaping up to be a cracker.

Craig Kolarik will captain the side in his last appearance for the purple and gold before heading back to South Africa next week. The Czech International has been a key player for the club over the last 3 seasons and goes home with our thanks and best wishes for the future, knowing he will always be made welcome at Fullarton.

Familiar faces such as the always classy Aaron Rankin in the centre & club hero Fraser "Rhino" Ferguson getting set loose in the back row, this is a game not to be missed!

MARR 1ST XV LOOK FOR VICTORY ON TAYSIDE.

Marr Rugby will be looking for a similar score line, that they achieved in the first match of the season against Dundee, when they won 38—19 at Fullarton Park, back on the 1st of September.

The good news for Craig Redpath is that one of our prodigal sons has returned from a year or so of playing rugby in New Zealand. That son is, none other than Marr stalwart Colin Sturgeon.

Colin has played for Marr over the last seven seasons, and played well over 100 times for Marr never missing a game. He will start the match at stand-off, which releases our captain Conor Bickerstaff back to his usual position of centre.

With our two back row players of Ross Miller and Ben Johnston, both missing this match, with head knocks, they will be replaced by Josh Evans and Fraser Grant, who both have great experience in these positions under their belts. Curran McMillan returns from Military Service and will look to bring a physical impact from the bench.

In the backs, last week’s wing forward Andrew Mill, will start at his usual and probably much preferred position of centre. Gregor Paxton is unavailable due to work commitments. Liam Wallace comes into the 1st XV squad for the first time this season.

This is the start of the second half of the season and Marr will be looking to push their main rivals hard, to try to secure this National 1 title again!
