Looking forward I believe that the club should look seriously at a new management structure and to that end I would like to start the ball rolling with my thoughts. It would be good to get your opinions and then the present management team can ullit all togther and come up with a final proposal for the AGM in May. It will also give people the chance to think about which roles they would take consider taking on. There are 12 key positions many of which will require a team to back them up so it shows just how much needs to be done and how many volunteers we need. This should not put people off because if we get enough volunteers then the workload is shared.

1.President - This role ideally should be one of a 'figurehead'. Someone who has the interests of the game of rugby at heart and someone who has a passion for all levels of the game from Minis, through Midis / School and the seniors. This person should also be able to effectively facilitate the construction and implementation of the business plan and oversee the various rugby sections working together in harmony. A good networker and one who attempts to get to as many SRU meetings as possible.

2. Finance Manager. Absolutely vital! We need someone who can manage accounts accurately and ensure that the finances are kept in good order. This someone should be challenging but also flexible and be able to manage flow of cash between sections. This person also needs to be able to deal with suppliers / banks etc in a diplomatic but assertive manner.

3. Club Secretary: Deals with all the various paperwork and communications between the club and the SRU. Also deals with any legalities in relation to the local council. Creates a regular management meeting diary, composes the agenda and takes and writes up minutes of actions.

4. Social & Fundraising Manager: Creates a social programme for the club in general and encourages the individuals sections to create their own fundraisers. Works to a set financial target and organises events to ensure this target is hit. This person would probably have to enlist a team of people to support them.

5. Membership Secretary: Keeps records of all members and looks at initiatives that will increase membership. Responsible for ensuring that all members are paid up.Wortks with the various ections to ensure accurate records ike player registration.

6. Director of Senior Rugby: Manages the coaches and players at senior and ensures that all necessary equipment, facilities and support are in place. Again would need to pull together a team to ensure things like travel, fixtures, referees, catering are all sorted.

7 & 8. Directors of Mini and Midi Rugby. As above. Again they would pull togther a team of esetial volunteers to assist in running of the sections.

9. Schools Liason: This person would be in charge of supporting the rugby activities at both Marr College and Prestwick Academy as well as linking with the Minis to deliver initiatives at primary School level.

10. Grants Manager: This person would identify all potential grant sources and link these to club projects that have been agreed by the Management Team.

11. Facilities Manager: Although the Sports Club runs the clubhouse and bar, someone is needed from Rugby to support the Sports Club. The aim of this role will be to support the sports club to ensure that all clubhouse facilities including the bar are run effectively.

12. Grounds Manager: Responsible for ensurng the grounds, particularly the playing surfaces at Fullarton are in top class condition. Again would look to recruit a grounds team to assist.

Over to you guys for feedback.

OK guys, 77 views and not a peep in terms of feedback or applications for the positions. I actually left a couple of positions out to see of anyone came back to say that they were missing.

13. Sponsorship Manager.
14. Communications Manager.

Allan...I dont think that as many people use this as should do, it is a great site but underutilised. Perhaps a mailshot to all members (including this site address in the letter) may provoke more responses.

Dear 'Great name, but no hope of it happening', You are probably right although webstats indicate a good visitation rate. The management team and the various 'heads of section' know to promote the site around the sections so there should be good awareness.

The intention is produce a letter to all members and to use all other means of communications including e-mail and the noticeboards. The challenge is that you canstick posters etc in front of people's noses, send them letters, send e-mails and direct them to websites, but if they don't want to know, then they will claim they never received the communication. Why do you think it takes us an age to get subscriptions in? Anyway nil desperandum - we'll continue to get the message out there. Its too important not to.

Hi Allan,
This is me just getting a look at this post now, I heard my name was mentioned. Can I give you a shout about it? I'm not actually a teacher yet, I was at Prestwick for my first placement and I'm at Marr for my next two but after that (this summer) I don't know where I'll be. I'd be happy to help out but it wouldn't be fair to commit until I know where I'm going to be next year.
Jamie.

Jamie,

Happy to talk it through as we do need to support both John and Alan at The College and John Malakoty at Prestwick Academy. I see that Prestwick played their 1st game against Carrick yesterday so we need to find ways of supporting the ongoing development at that school now that Kyle is away. I'll send a message to our Midi guys to see what they can come up with.
