This weekend saw the under16s start their new league campaign against league leaders West of Scotland. Unfortunately they struggled to get going.....

Here are some of my notes from the pitchside.

Early pressure by Marr. West 2 tries coming from some poor defence from Marr. Scrum against the head on west 22. Scrum 5. No.8 pick failed to come up with try. West cleared to halfway. Couple of penalties up pitch west to score and convert. 21-0. Camped in west half. 
Second half started same as first finished. With good pressure from marr. Unfortunatley with no success. And in the end leading to a west try. The game now a last saw some more positive rugby from marr with a series of quick penalties leading to a try from Rae. This was shortly followed by a great individual try from, centre for today, Boyd. 28-12.

Some individual good performances from front row Rae who scrummagaed like a pro which his opposite number couldn’t handle and kept breaking his bindings and some great running and covering from Miller on the wing. Their attitude was the part that let the team down on Sun not lack of ability. Hopefully this will be a lesson learned and next weeks game will be treated with the attitude and preparation it merits. Training continues at 7pm on Wednesdays.
